Duncan Butcher
Born in Durban on the coast of KwaZulu-Natal, Duncan, a fourth generation “Durbanite”, comes from a family that has always lived close to nature and always enjoyed the African outdoors. Thanks to his Zulu nanny, Duncan grew up speaking fluent Zulu, which continues to enable him to understand the African way better than most. He has travelled extensively across southern Africa and has a large network throughout Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. After completing his university studies, with his final year at Cambridge University, Duncan then qualified as an attorney (solicitor) in 1995. Following his lifelong passion with the African outdoors, Duncan co-founded Safariworx in 2003.
Margaret Butcher
Born and raised in Johannesburg, Margaret was exposed to the wonders of the African outdoors from a very young age. Her weekends and holidays spent exploring and experiencing the magnificent wildlife on both of her grandfathers' private game reserves, quickly saw to this. After working for five years in the UK and touring Europe, India and parts of the USA, Margaret’s love of Africa brought her back to Johannesburg, where she joined the tourism industry and worked for amongst others, Wilderness Safaris. Margaret joined Safariworx in 2008 and subsequently married Duncan in 2010. Now a co-owner and general manager of Safariworx, she thrives in giving her esteemed clients the best possible service by tailor-making their itineraries to not only meet but hopefully exceed their expectations.
