Botswana

The Moremi Game Reserve occupies the east and central areas of the region, as does the Chobe National Park, Linyanti Floodplains and the Savuti region. Here, dugout canoes are used to navigate past hippos, elephants and crocodiles. On dry land, wildlife includes lions, leopards, giraffes and rhinos. With dry and wet safari environments, Botswana is regarded as one of Africa's best safari places all year round. Surrounded by the Kalahari Desert, are the Makgadikgadi Pans, one of the largest salt flats in the world. Here the annual migration of vast herds of zebra and wildebeest takes place. Botswana has a genuine commitment to conservation of environment, wildlife and cultural heritage, making it a leader in eco-tourism. Camps and lodges are of an exceptional standard.
Guidelines On Climate
The rainy season begins late October/November and ends in March. The best time to visit Botswana is from March to October when the weather is temperate (cold at night and in the early mornings – June, July). Game viewing is at its best later in the dry season when the bush is less thick and scarcity of water concentrates the animals. Temperatures however increase as the season progresses and daytime heat in October and November can be very oppressive before the rains arrive. During the summer months from October to April, temperatures can rise to over 40oC (104oF).
